1:1 coaching

 

Though training is essential, it is not enough. Think of the last time you were in a group training on issues of race or diversity. There was likely a lot left unsaid, possibly raising as many questions as were answered in the session. This is why we believe 1:1 coaching sessions are critical to transformational work. In 1:1 coaching sessions, individuals have an opportunity to work through issues that they may not fully grasp, or may feel uncomfortable asking in a group environment. Our individualized sessions are offered across the organization. While it is true that diversity starts at the top with the CEO or Executive Director, rank-in-file employees and frontline managers (not the CEO or Executive Director) provide the bulk of day-to-day interactions that shape the workplace environment.

Our 1:1 coaching uses the following processes: observation and inquiry, developing an action plan for education and change, and structuring sessions to address the components in the action plan.
